As someone with OCD, I’ve always been drawn to organization and visual harmony. This personal experience inspired me to create a concept to help Instagram users like me. I designed a post-reordering feature to let users effortlessly curate a cohesive profile without deleting posts. This falls into the category of interaction design with a strong emphasis on user experience and accessibility, helping users maintain a visually balanced social media presence while reducing stress.

Overview:

An Instagram feature that lets users rearrange posts in their grid for better visual harmony. It helps organize content by allowing easy drag-and-drop for a cleaner, more coordinated profile.

Background:

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is the 4th most common mental disorder, affecting 0.1% to 2.3% of the European population. It often coexists with conditions like depression and social phobia, deeply impacting quality of life. With social media’s rise, the pressure for perfectionism has only grown.

User Research

After conducting user research, we found that it’s crucial for Instagram users, especially those with a strong sense of visual aesthetics or tendencies like OCD, to have more control over their profiles’ appearance. Users expressed frustration when posts they love don’t fit their desired grid layout, often deleting or archiving them just to maintain a cohesive look.
